Catalogue for a sale on October 18, 1973. Robert and Ethel Scull were pioneers of pop art collecting since the late 1950s, and sold part of their collection at the present sale. The auction yielded an unprecedented 2.3 million dollars. The auction was the subject of a documentary film and was considered a milestone in the contemporary art market, demonstrating that money could be made by investing in contemporary art.
